Stepping into the forefront of any discipline involves navigating the unknown. In my field, Computer Science, we continuously push the boundaries of what’s possible, often developing solutions to problems we never knew existed. My research project, centred on developing an allergen filter for online recipes, reflects one such endeavour.
Project Planning Planning is vital in any research project. However, when researching a novel area, the plan needs to be particularly flexible.
As I continue my research project, it is crucial for me to understand the types of data I will collect and how I will analyse them (Creswell and Creswell, 2018). The core focus of my research revolves around creating a web based tool that filters recipes based on allergen restrictions, providing a convenient solution for people with food allergies.
Data Gathering There are two types of data that I will gather for my project:
This week, I delved into a tool that has the potential to completely transform how I manage my research project. Trello, a web based application for project management. When combined with the Kanban methodology, this tool has the ability to greatly improve organisation, collaboration and task tracking throughout my research journey (O’Leary, 2013).

Greetings! I’m Billy Grant. I’m currently studying Computer Science. I’ve started this blog to keep you updated on my research project, which has become something I’m really passionate about. It’s all about the intersection of technology, health and everyday life.
In this digital world, our daily routines have undergone a revolution – even cooking! Online recipes have become our go-to cookbooks giving us access to an array of dishes from cuisines right at our fingertips.
